Meet Quanta

Workforce Challenge

Quanta had not worked for nearly ten years while she remained in the home to raise her three daughters. As her children grew older, Quanta wanted to get back into the workforce. However, she did not know where to begin looking and wasn't aware of the resources available to help her find employment.

Workforce Solution

One of Quanta’s daughters brought a flyer for the Transitional Jobs program home from school to show to her mother. Transitional Jobs is a program designed to help job seekers gain the job training and work experience needed to move into unsubsidized employment and ultimately help create more financial security for participants and their families. With encouragement from her daughters, Quanta applied to the program, which placed her in a part-time position at the Bridge Lakepoint Waunona Neighborhood Center in Madison working in the after school children’s program. There, she assists with activities, reading, and homework help for local fourth- and fifth graders.

Outcomes & Benefits

Quanta is absolutely thrilled with her job at the Bridge Lakepoint Waunona Neighborhood Center. “I love working with the kids at the Center,” Quanta said. “You have to love what you do, and I’m very happy with my job. I’m not going anywhere!”
Her employers are so happy with Quanta’s work that they have now hired her for a permanent position beyond her six-month Transitional Jobs placement, and she is set to start working full-time during the summer months to run the children’s summer camp.
