Arkansas Workforce Center - Russellville

Meet Stephanie

Workforce Challenge

Stephanie was 22 years old and single. She was working two jobs as a waitress while going to school full time for an RN degree from Arkansas Tech University. Stephanie did not yet have the skills or training for employment that would allow her to be self-sufficient. She was receiving a small Pell Grant but it did not cover all of her expenses and her scholarship had been exhausted. Stephanie needed financial assistance to continue her education.

Workforce Solution

Stephanie came into the Arkansas Workforce Center in Russellville for assistance with her training expenses. She worked with her Case Manager to complete her paperwork and assessment. Stephanie was approved to receive funding through WIA to pay books, tuition, fees, uniforms, testing and some supplies.

Outcomes & Benefits

Stephanie completed her training at ATU and graduated in May, 2010. She went to work immediately on her temporary license. Shortly thereafter she took and passed her NCLEX, the state licensing exam. Stephanie continues working full time as a cardiac nurse earning a base salary of $19.75 per hour plus differential for night and week-end duty. Stephanie credits WIA as being “a huge part of my personal success story." Congratulations, Stephanie!
