Meet Tanaysa

Workforce Challenge

Tanaysa was enrolled in college, but she did not have the funds to stay enrolled and complete her degree. The financial hardship forced her to consider dropping out of college and giving up her goal of becoming a nurse. Tanaysa heard about the WIA Adult program through a friend. She applied for program through the Augusta Career Center and was determined eligible for WIA services.

Workforce Solution

Richmond/Burke Job Training Authority assisted Tanaysa with WIA funding to pay for tuition, books, stethoscope, blood pressure kit, uniforms, nursing shoes, clinical supplies and state board examination fees. Her Career Advisor provided coaching, encouragement and guidance during difficult times in the degree program. The Career Advisor as well as the other WIA staff provided a great support system for Tanaysa.

Outcomes & Benefits

Tanaysa graduated from Augusta State University on May 8, 2010, with her Nursing degree. Tanaysa now has full-time employment as a Registered Nurse at a wage of $25.00 per hour.
